Is it common for players to be bounced back and forth between the same teams via waivers? Or is some of that early/mid October action an anomaly?

It’s kinda both. It happens every year but this year does have more cases than usual. As the team that lost the player to begin with when they get them back that player doesn’t need to go back on waivers to go to the AHL if it’s within a certain time frame
