Sunshine swede
Surprised to see P.Engvall on that list. Regular winger for Islanders with decent production. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him claimed.
thegreatgoodbye
Agreed however is contract is not friendly…6yr 18mil left
thecoty
They’re praying someone takes him.
Sunshine swede
Ahhhh!! Suddenly I would be more surprised to see him get claimed!
bigdaddyt
Ya as don Sweeney would say you’d have 18 million reasons not to claim Engvall

Looks like Islanders are 22 plus Matt Martin now for Opening Night Roster.
NSco1996
Columbus needs to add salary i think they make perfect sense for a change of scenery
Rollie's Mustache
Not a good day for ex-Leafs. Reimer, Holl, Lagesson, and ZAR all joined him.
DevilShark
Plenty of legit depth here. Could easily be a few claims.
Bucky76
I would be shocked if at least 7 to 10 players weren’t claimed by tomorrow
NSco1996
Isaak Phillips could be claimed, i didn’t know he was waiver eligible yet, Fasching Engvall and Foudy i could see as the most likely to get claimed, Jakob Pelletier is definitely a surprise too he has potential , Ty Smith possibly, im a bit surprised to see Ryan Suzuki but Carolina is still a deep team, Adam Gaudette im a bit surprised as he did score quite a bit this preseason, Jack Studnicka i could see getting a flier from a team because he’s fast but inconsistent
mikedickinson
Suzuki stinks and can never stay healthy.
LouGrozasToe
Smith needs to get someone that keeps him around for a while. Pelletier will get picked up, no doubt.
layventsky
With teams trying to get under the upper limit, there aren’t many that would consider taking on Engvall’s contract. Most of the other guys are low-upside roster filler types.

I’d probably prefer Copley over Johansson as Vasilevsky’s backup. But you never can tell with goalies.
With the Predators waiving Del Gaizo, they are probably having an eye on another D via waivers. Brannstrom would be funny. Three teams in three days?
PyramidHeadcrab
I would love to see someone claim Bussi just to screw with Boston.
mcase7187
I don’t understand y they put him on waviers they just resigned Swayman today he’ll need time to get up to spend at least you would think so
layventsky
Just because he was put on waivers doesn’t mean he’ll immediately be sent to the minors after clearing. If they feel Swayman isn’t ready, they can keep Bussi around for a bit and pair him with Korpisalo, then he can be sent down because he will have already cleared waivers.
mcase7187
But another team could’ve claimed him lucky no one did
so
Lots of good options here for fringe players and depth:
– Brandon Bussi has played excellent for Providence
– Jakob Pelletier has speed, upside
– Rafferty is an experienced pick up for AHL depth
– Josh Brown is a big body for someone’s 7th/8th D and Lavoie is a power forward who’s put up good numbers
– Copley was excellent two years ago, while a rebuilding team could take on Fagemo as a project – he was a top prospect in 2019 I think?
– Nick DeSimone is quality AHL depth with a bit of NHL experience…injuries also happen
– Fasching would be an interesting pick up for a 3rd/4th line addition. Bolduc has untapped upside but has been buried in the Islanders depth chart.
– Adam Gaudette led the Blues’ AHL affiliate in Springfield in points last year – excellent AHL depth and decent NHL call-up potential
– Sebastian Aho (the D-man) could be an option for a team looking for a younger puck-mover that may have not reached full potential yet.
– Marshall Rifai (TOR) and Erik Brannstrom (VAN) would be interesting to watch on a rebuilding team. Rifai was decent in his NHL audition last year, while Brannstrom is not too far removed from a high prospect status.
– Aston-Reese would be a depth option, while Jonas Rondbjerg would be a project option – he’s still relatively young
brucenewton
Cooley and Pelletier will likely be scooped up.
MWA
Lavoie to Pens, low risk high ceiling
Johnny Z
Erik Brannstrom Gets Traded, Then Placed on Waivers immediately. I guess the Nucks need someone in their farm system.
sweetg
Would take flyer on phillips. When he was health Copley was a good number two.
