Thoughts on getting rid of all of the face-off circles, icing line, and trapezoid to clean up unnecessary confusion for new fans?
MoneyBallJustWorks
is this a real question?

The circles do nothing, players encroach on them every face-off. The face-off dots and hash marks do have purpose.
The icing line and trapezoid are overkill. The linesman can call icing using his eye and don’t allow the goalie to go behind the net.
An offside and icing should result in turning the puck over. Not a 50/50 chance of retaining the puck.

So Einstein then exactly how do you ” Give” the puck to the other team? Do you take a picture, Stop the game and put everyone back onside? Do you give the other team the puck in front of the other teams goal like soccer does? Does the non offending team get a running start with the puck with all 5 guys while the other team has their backs turned? The rules as they are now are written to keep the pace of the game moving, Because it’s the fastest game of the 4 major sports. If you want to watch slow sports go watch a soccer game and hockey maybe isn’t for you. Hockey is for quick witted fans who like to watch continuous action. Obviously not a thing for you.

Give the team the puck inside their blue line and have the offending team on their side of center.
That would take 5-10 seconds. Which is much faster than the current system.
Don’t worry Edison, if you have it explained to you, you’ll get there eventually.

Well what I know is all the recent rule changes have made Hockey the fantastic game it has become. The DOG penalty, Not being able to change lines after an icing, Eliminating the Red Line offsides, The 3 on 3 5 minute OT, Replay Review and the penalty you get if you’re wrong have all made viewing easier and more fun. Not to mention that Face Offs are a valuable part of the game and one that has become an art form. So it’s not a big deal if you move on, But you should really just watch a few games and the announcers will explain it all to you. Eddie Olcyk is one of the best at explaining the little nuances of the game. Or just move on and back to your Video games. Like I said, It’s not for everybody. Not to mention that Playoff Hockey is by far the best and most intense of any sport.

How are the dynamics going to be for Tampa’s PP this season?…
Do they potentially move Point to the Stamkos spot to give them a right hand shooter (Point has shown on a few occasions he can slap/sniper a shot quickly when he wants too) or do they keep him at center & have Guentzel who’s a lefty play the Stamkos spot which doesn’t really allow much shooting opportunities under the circumstances of Guentzel’s shooting hand?…Could they potentially move Kucherov to the Stamkos spot to do his distributing there & allow Guentzel on the right wing side to be able to take the slap/sniper shots?
A lot scenarios at play for Tampa’s PP which has been one of the the best PP units in the league for some time.

How long before do you think Stan Bowman gets fired?

If it was me today would be too long.

As far as to why Davidson traded 2 2nd round picks to move up 7 spots I’ll say it again. A team can only have so many contracts so at some point it makes sense to just move up and get one better player. It doesn’t matter much right now, But with all the picks that haven’t even been signed yet in the system, It will be down the road. Davidson has done a masterful job of weaponizing his Cap Space( Zero thanks to Bowman BTW) , That he has like 8 or 10 2nd round picks in the future still. Plus not only does he get a player now( This year Mikheyev) but a pick too. It’s really been fun to watch. They’ve made 8 1st round picks in the last 3 years. Next year they have 2 1sts and I think 4 more 2nds. So expect more of the same if you’re a Hawks fan. I do. Hopefully they are at least around .500 so being able to move up will be more important next year to move up from the middle of the rounds if an opportunity arises.

Was initially surprised to hear Josh name the Flames as having one of the 3 worst records. I’d project Columbus to have a worse season, but looking at the Flames roster.. I can kinda see it? No Markstrom could certainly hurt if Wolf stumbles. Man, that recent 111 point season feels like a decade ago, doesn’t it.
