We don’t know who Kyle Davidson was targeting when he moved up to 18. I’m assuming whoever it was was already taken and Boisvert was the next best option. Just a guess. I thought Davidson did great at FA except for the 2nd year for Brodie and signing Maroon at all. He might have 3 Cups but I seriously doubt they had much to do with him as him being lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
From this article, it seems the Preds thought the Hawks were going to take Surin at #18 and were relieved when they took Boisvert instead. Lots of intrigue at the draft tables.

The Hawks obviously weren’t targeting any of those guys or they would have taken them. I thought it was odd that they traded away a 2nd round pick to make that move but like I said there are only so many contracts that each team has to go around. Then the move to basically trade 3 2nd round picks to move up 2 spots and back into the end of the 1st round kind of proved my point. Then they just traded a future 3rd for a 3rd now and spent them all on big fast wingers which they need badly having drafted speed for the the last 2 years basically. All the guys they drafted except Arty have at least a year in Juniors or USHL and then are supposed to go to college. So this draft was more about 2028 than 2024. All these guys are expected to get even stronger in the future so there’s that. Plus Doneghy said that next year is a great year for Goalies and the Hawks have a late 1st round pick from Toronto so they can get the best Goalie they want and not break a sweat because they have a bunch of 2nd’s again next year. They might trade them all next year too.
