Luke Schenn was Trotz’s first blunder as GM.

Avs and Stars with nice off-season acquisitions. Both Cup contenders. And then there’s the Preds…..
So the Preds trade away veteran players under the pretense that just making the playoffs isn’t enough and it’s time to rebuild, let the kids get prime playing time and be ready in two years or so to contend once again. But then Trotz brings in 3 veteran players who, while still being decent players, are all on the downside of their careers and is talking about maybe making the playoffs again.
To use a Star Trek phrase, I have no idea what the prime directive is of this team.

@Gbear – That Prime Directive is “We come in peace. And, we brought lots of Charmin! A whole stinkin’ Starship full!”

were the Preds not acting like Washington and St. Louis, making in-season sell moves while retaining their options for 23-24? it’s a weak conference, and they got a goalie.
could be wrong, but i thought Nashville was clearing cap and loading up for their hometown draft, not full-on rebuilding.

@Mac – Why, for example, do you trade Niederreiter who was on a nice 4M per season deal to only then sign a guy like Nyquist for 3 years? Seems Like Poile and Trotz weren’t really in synch with each other.
Interesting that Ryan O’Reilly brother, former Pred Cal, still lives in TN. Likely played a part in Ryan signing there.

The hardest thing for some of us will be to try to remember who went where around the mid-September timeframe.
