Hawks Come away with two top line prospects. A+ grade from me!
Sorry Trotzy, but a C+ is the best I can muster up for you. The promise of taking some homerun swings looked more like the usual singles up the middle. :/
MacJablonski--NotVegasLegend
@Gbear – And, they bounced off the bag at second in random directions! ;) Count me disappointed in his first-ish draft, too. If he’s going to throw nickels around like manhole covers, it could mean dark times in Smashville. Kind of like driving in the slow lane at 35MPH just to keep the synthetic oil in primo condition for an extra 10K miles.

@Mac – This article sums up my view on the Preds draft very well. If you’re going to talk big, you better deliver.
Not moving up a few spots from #24 to get Perreault was a massive failure. Offering that pick plus two 2nd rounders should’ve been able to accomplish that.

@Gbear – Because of the subscription blockage, I haven’t found the full evaluation for NSH. I’ve had to use a garbage MSN regurgitation of The Tennessean, which states they gave Wood “Instant grade: A-minus” (sounds dopey) and Molendyk received “Instant grade: B”. The link that expands on all of the picks is behind an Iron Curtain. :(
Gbear
@Mac – Weird, that article wasn’t behind the pay wall yesterday. :/
MacJablonski--NotVegasLegend
@Gbear – If you can summon up more patience than I have today, maybe there’s another site pointing back to it. I’m still a little curious, even though I don’t know the author or his reputation. Other than Miss Lyndsay, I’m not that familiar on their beat writers.
Gbear
@Mac – Estes is his last name. His articles are so good you have to pay a buck just to read them, lol!
MacJablonski--NotVegasLegend
@Gbear – Yoikes! I went to school with a guy named Estes. He was an idiot. I bowled with a couple of brothers by the same name, but they were good eggs. I can honestly think of a few better uses for that sawbuck, though. :()
Gbear
@Mac – Speaking of ESPN from elsewhere in this thread, I hope Bettman collected the rights fees from them! No wonder their draft coverage was 6th grade level pablum.

@Gbear – You heard me talking out loud a little while ago about that very subject. I had wondered if the broadcast partners had clauses in their agreements with the NHL that if ratings were crappola, the league would see diminished revenue. Naturally, ratings could be tied to lousy broadcast personalities or crap-called games that are the fault of the league, or a bit of both. Then, just reading that link alone, I was a bit surprised at the number of people that were booted out of the Worldwide Slobjobbers in Sports. How fitting do you think this is: “ESPN, meet Bally Sports. Bally Sports, meet ESPN. You’ll both enjoy your adjoining cells at Rikers, featuring semi-private toilets.” I sympathize with anyone who had to endure their garbage. As I stated before, I really enjoyed Pat & Aaron’s work on SN960, and I stuck with the coverage for the entire first round, which I don’t usually do. And, I can’t forget the great tidbits that Frank Seravalli provided, as well.

Flyers get the second best player in the draft (who would be number 1 any other year), a potential 2nd line defenseman, and 2 more goalie prospects in their top 4 picks. A+
[TOR]Scott 2
NY Islanders pick in round 7, Dennis Good Bogg, wins the prize for best name in this years draft.
It is unlikely but I hope he makes it.
jason830
I think the Blackhawks pick of Marcel Marcel can be one of the best names in the draft as well.
MacJablonski--NotVegasLegend
@jason830 – He’ll steal the show in his first game against the Caps. “Man trapped in a box, staring down the #43 train. In a panic!”
Gbear
At least he doesn’t have “But” on the back of his jersey. :D

Bruins fan, so the draft was super fun for me…I like the Kraken draft the most. Sale is a bit of a boom/bust but love Rehkopf, Molgaard, Price and Dragicevic. Should be a good haul for them.
