The Jets have dipped into college free agency, announcing the signing of forward Parker Ford to a two-year, entry-level contract. The deal will carry an AAV of $925K and will begin next season. Ford has also agreed to an ATO deal with Manitoba of the AHL and will finish up this season at the minor league level.
The 22-year-old recently wrapped up his four-year college career at Providence. His offensive numbers in the last two seasons were nearly identical; he posted 12 goals and 14 assists in 37 games this year after putting up 13 goals and 14 helpers in 38 contests in 2021-22. Over his career with the Friars, Ford had 94 points in 131 contests, putting up a higher point per game average at the NCAA level (0.71) than his time in the USHL (0.62). He was Providence’s captain this season and finished as a Hockey East Third Team All-Star.
Winnipeg has already moved three of its draft picks for the upcoming draft and had a three-year stretch between 2019 and 2021 where they made no more than five selections in a single draft. Accordingly, their prospect pool has been thinned out so it makes sense for the Jets to look to fill some of those gaps in college free agency. At 5’9, Ford is a bit undersized but can play both center and the wing, bringing them some positional versatility.

I have an idea for our replenishment of Draft Picks. Any chance we give Dubois his wish and send him to the Canadiens for Lane Hutson and both of their number 1’s or is that too much from the Canadiens perspective? Any thoughts?

Ya that maybe on Xbox or PlayStation that might work. Clown
rdiddy75
Well if you want to call me a clown so what!!! Do you have a suggestion? It’s apparent he wants to be with the Canadiens do you have an offer? Let’s hear it.
Gbear
How is he a clown for making a suggestion?
Carson 2
First of all Winnipeg has zero leverage. Yes he wants to be with Montreal so why would Montreal give up that much for him? They can just wait a year and sign him as a UFA and give up nothing. They’re not giving up a top 5 draft pick, another top 15 pick and a good puck moving d man for him. That’s why you’re a clown. He’s good but not worth all that
rdiddy75
How do they not have zero leverage idiot? They have a perennial 60 point guy that a lot of teams would want. They would get a First Round pick and a prospect for him. What’s to say another team would offer at least offer that? Someone is going to give him 8 or 9 Million a year and have try and sign him before he becomes a Free Agent.
Carson 2
The only idiots you. He wants to play for the habs that’s obvious. Every team in the league knows that so why would they mortgage the future for him? Exactly why the Jets have zero leverage. Sh-t for brains
rdiddy75
I think you need to learn some things son. Tkachuk did not want to play for the Flames anymore and everybody in the league knew that. Did that kill the Flames leverage? The Flames received a 100 point scorer and a teams top 2 Defenseman. What’s to say the another team offers DuBois 9 Million a year offer sheet and not the Canadiens do you think he would decline that? He would not care as long as he has his money. Oh and by the way the Jets will still get substantial compensation. So do you research and learn how things work before you come at me son.

Dubois doesn’t have a NTC/MNT list so he can be sent anywhere for a year.
Carson 2
Wow you Jets fans are slow. He’s actually a RFA so if someone else signs him to an offer sheet the Jets can match. I see why he doesn’t wanna play in Winnipeg now lol
rdiddy75
No one will sign him to an offer sheet. It is an unwritten rule between GM’s. The Aho Kotkieniemi situation only happened cause the Hurricanes wanted to get revenge on the Canadiens.

Drop him in on the Jets PP…..it can’t get any worse.
