Jan 26: After Batherson was injured last night, the league has announced that Brady Tkachuk will replace him and be the Senators’ representative.
Jan 13: During a live reveal on ESPN’s SportsCenter program in the United States, the National Hockey League unveiled their four divisional rosters for the 2022 NHL All-Star Game in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Eight skaters and two goalies were announced for each team, leaving one skater spot open for each division. That last spot will once again be decided by a fan vote, who they can select by voting at NHL.com/LastMenIn.
The head coaches of each team were announced earlier, decided by the teams in first place (by points percentage) in their division on New Years Day. Florida’s Andrew Brunette heads the Atlantic Division, Carolina’s Rod Brind’Amour will coach the Metropolitan Division, Colorado’s Jared Bednar is the bench boss for the Central Division, and Vegas’ Peter DeBoer will serve as the Pacific Division’s coach.

Kuzy going to replace Ovechkin when he sits out
MacJablonski--NotVegasLegend
The GR8 will be forced to decline the All-Star invite, due to an “Olympic-sized injury.” Can’t wait to see the All-Star Game Taxi squad. Step right up, AHL-ers, this is your chance to shine!
Ol' Voodoo
Makar & Pietrangelo gonna get some ice time.
deadthings
Okay, something’s not right here. With 48 points in 30 games, how is Naz Kadri *not* an all-star this year?
MacJablonski--NotVegasLegend
@deadthings – Patience, young Skywalker! There’s still time for roster “adjustments”… ;)
itsmeheyhi
Dont wanna see anyone get boarded in an exhibition game.
deron867
Maybe they don’t want to reward bad behavior
wishyouwerehere
Let me preface by saying that bergy is prob my favorite bruins player of all time. That being said the fact he is on this team over Marchand is just foolish
neo
Trouble is nobody wants to play with Marchand or against him, particularly in an exhibition game. The trouble with being an insanely good pest is that it requires a lack of sanity and people would vocally express that they don’t want you around.
wishyouwerehere
I would disagree with your stance that no one wants to play with him. He’s also a top 10 player in the league wether he’s a pest/ db or not
neo
Would they accept playing with him to win in the playoffs? Sure, more likely. To play an exhibition match for the fans? Not quite so keen to team up.
Not saying everyone despises him. Just much more than average.

Josi Snubbed oof!
C-Daddy
Having to choose one player from each team is nonsense.
66TheNumberOfTheBest
You saying Adam Pelech isn’t an All Star?
mikedickinson
Jaccob Slavin continues to be the most underrated player in the league.
admiral hopppaaa
Bergy shouldn’t be going over Marchand…but with that being said, how in the world is Matthews the captain of the Atlantic squad over Bergy?
Connor “It is what it is” McDavid – real leadership there. Let’s make him Captain, too.
Do people actually understand what leadership is? Shut this joke of a game down already.
neo
It’s almost as if this battle of the best is simply a popularity contest run by the NHL marketing department and not a true representation of the gritty and heated competition that is what really makes hockey great.
When did this start happening?

1918 I believe

It makes me laugh that people are shocked that all star games are supposed to be these gritty battles instead of 15-14 exhibitions where the best players are playing to score and not get hurt.
billysbballz
Enough with having each team represented
Pick the best 11 players (not 10) for each roster. That gives you 3 lines of 3v3.
So out goes Dahlin, Pellech, Suzuki, Batherson, Giroux, Pavelski, Keller to name a few and put the best players determined by the players themselves with the im help of league GMs and stats.
This is ridiculous.
jdgoat
This isn’t a homer take by me at all. How on earth is Batherson not an allstar?
Donovan Voigt
I agree JD Batherson has been Ottawas best Player besides Brady

@donovan pain
coachdit
I don’t see anything wrong with one representative from each team. They should simply expand the roster sizes to limit those guys playing time that don’t belong but had to go because they’re the best on their garbage teams. And the coach must play every player for X amount of minutes so every teams fans can root for their hometown representative. And if the coach doesn’t he should face a fine. Simple as that.
deadthings
I appreciate that having a representative from every team is the best way to ensure every NHL market is more likely to tune into the game. But if you’re going to do that, then you’re going to have to increase the roster sizes so that guys who obviously belong in this year’s game like Kadri, Marchand, Josi and Slavin don’t continue to get snubbed going forward. Don’t agree about the icetime thing, though. The nice thing about the 3on3 tourney format is it’s a heckuva lot more competitive than the East v. West game ever was. So the coach should be able to try to win. I love the all-star game and skills competition. It’s just good ol’ childish fun and I like watching pro hockey players play like they were kids again.
sweetg
Why would any player want to play in this joke game anyway . I would always prefer time off . Even league admits is a joke by playing three on three. At least they try to make outdoor game seem real but playing same rules . ignoring of course weather conditions.
NGC
Troy Terry not on the team….big yikes
cubbiemike
How is Patrick Kane not an all-star?
TJECK109
Wasn’t Jake Guentzel voted in by fans?
Narbird Dave
