As a result of attendance restrictions in Western Canada, the NHL has postponed eight more games. The games affected are as follows:
Monday, Jan. 3
Minnesota @ Ottawa
Wednesday, Jan. 5
New York Islanders @ Vancouver
Saturday, Jan. 8
New York Islanders @ Edmonton
Tuesday, Jan. 11
New York Islanders @ Calgary
Wednesday, Jan. 12
Minnesota @ Edmonton
Friday, Jan. 14
Vegas @ Edmonton
Saturday, Jan. 15
Vegas @ Calgary
Sunday, Jan. 16
Edmonton @ Winnipeg
In addition to those contests, the Islanders’ road game in Seattle on January 4th has also been postponed due to the other games on their West Coast road trip being postponed.
No make-up dates for any of the games were announced but in the release from the league, it was noted that the games “will be rescheduled for dates later in the season when such restrictions may be eased or lifted”. These postponements bring the running total to 90 games that the league will need to reschedule in the coming weeks and months.

Canada is a joke

Not at all. Taking measures to prevent the health care system from collapsing seems wise. Hockey can take a back seat for a few weeks.
Red Wings
A few weeks? That is what we were told in March of 2020…
Gbear
Still going with the “health care system will collapse” malarkey?
That scare tactic is so 2020.
Bucky76
Maybe a good time to move these Canadian Teams south of the border..as our Canadian government is not going to move…
DarkSide830
and what happens if the restrictions arent eased?
Bucky76
All Canadian Teams maybe have to forfeit the 2pts..lol
Danny DeKeyser
Dude, kinda not inclusive and rude
M34
I fail to see how that is either exclusive or rude.
If Canada’s government isn’t going to allow the season to progress with their harsh protocols, it is on the Canadian teams and league office to figure out some type of proposal to work around things.
Gbear
I sense sarcasm in DK’s response. ;)
Bucky76
Well what else are they going to do if teams can’t get into Canada or if Canadian Teams can’t leave ..oh that’s right play in the summer, it’s just the way it will be unless Canada allows them to travel…if that’s rude
josiahdd
Teams can get in and out. Government isn’t allowing fans. It’s all about the money. Messing up the schedules of a myriad of US teams because Canada can’t have fans. Play without them or forfeit. Hockey may be from Canada, but the NHL is a US league.
hersch
And unfortunately US teams are having just as many covid issues as the Canadian teams so your logic is awful. Not to mention that half the league revenues come from those 7 Canadian teams.
Gbear
Could you please site the source for your 7 teams account for half the league revenues comment? Willing to bet that’s not accurate.
Red Wings
It should be clear after seeing so many covid positives on nhl teams where almost everyone is vaccinated that omicron is just going to burn its way through no matter.
alwaysgo4two
Exactly, as far as I know, there’s been zero deaths FROM this variant yet it’s being treated like the Bubonic Plague. To most it’s a cold.
BoltforLife
Have the Canadian teams start playing their “home” games in U S cities. Adjust the schedule accordingly. Teams return to their home rinks when their government stops suffering from cranial rectal inversion That could be a while

That’s the most creative way to call someone an asshat that I’ve ever seen. Well done.
