The Pittsburgh Penguins have added a depth forward, signing Michael Chaput to a one-year contract. The two-way deal will carry an average annual value of $750K.
Chaput, 29, has bounced around the NHL over his professional career, mostly suiting up in the minor leagues. His 182 games have come with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Vancouver Canucks, Montreal Canadiens and most recently the Arizona Coyotes, for who he played 13 matches this season. He has just 22 points during those 182 games, despite strong production at the minor league level, but does bring a big body for the fourth line.
The Penguins are notorious for bringing in fringe players and giving them a chance in the top-six, but that seems unlikely in Chaput’s case. With 11 forwards already under one-way contracts, two more restricted free agents to sign, and some other NHL depth options in the system, he seems destined to spend a good chunk of the year in the AHL once again. The last time he was there, he scored 16 goals in 47 games for the Tucson Roadrunners.

So, yesterday when it was announced that the Pens were hiring the 30 year old son of Hextall’s right hand man (to be Director of Amateur Scouting, a pretty important job) I remembered reading a previous story of the Pens making a nepotistic hire and wanted to double check…maybe this was the same hire and it was just officially announced.
No. I forgot. Hextall hired his own kid, too.
SO…the MOST qualified people that Hextall AND his right hand man could find for these jobs….JUST HAPPENED to be their own spawn? How convenient. Statistically unlikely, but convenient.

Yeah cause Hextall is running the entire organization. He doesn’t report to Burke or Lemieux or anyone else. I mean he just has free reign to hire anyone without ownership or Burke’s consent right? Yinzidiot.

I was praising the convenience of these hires. Each kid can carpool to work with their dads even and the convenience level rises all the more.
Lucky for them, EACH of them overcame the statistically unlikely odds of being THE MOST QUALIFIED people for those jobs, especially despite their young ages and thin resumes. Good fortune all around, eh?

Man you act as if you know so much more than a man who plays what 15 years in the show, now has been considered by one of the greatest to ever play(Lemieux) as a competent GM. Nobody, including Super Mario, Burky or Hextall care that you hate Hextall. If you think you can do a better job go talk to Mario and see if he is interested. I’d be willing to bet he’s not!

I was praising the convenience of these hires and the cunning efficiency that underlies them.
Most job searches take forever. Trying to identify, communicate with, interview and hire the MOST QUALIFIED candidates takes a long time.
LUCKILY, Ron Hextall and Chris Pryor just “knew” that the MOST QUALIFIED candidates for these important jobs with the Pittsburgh Penguins were their own children. Time saver!!!
Just ignore all of those people who evidently are NOT the MOST QUALIFIED candidates (longer resumes take longer to read anyway…total waste of time and energy) and tell your wife/mom the good news about junior.

Haha not facetious at all!!!

I guess you could say the Pens chances of another Stanley Cup win just went “chaput.”
p.s.
I really hope this guy pronounces his name to rhyme with kaput, because otherwise the joke doesn’t make sense. But if it does… it’s GOLD Jerry!
Goku the Knowledgable One
Hopefully won’t see this guy at the nhl level

It’s gold regardless haha #nailedit
