The NHL has announced the finalists for the 2020 King Clancy Memorial Trophy, which is presented “to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.” Last year’s winner was Jason Zucker, then of the Minnesota Wild.
This year’s finalists are Matt Dumba of the Wild, Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers and P.K. Subban of the New Jersey Devils.
The selection committee, led by Gary Bettman and Bill Daly, consider the following criteria:
- Clear and measurable positive impact on the community
- Investment of time and resources
- Commitment to a particular cause or community
- Commitment to the League’s community initiatives
- Creativity of programming
- Use of influence; engagement of others
Say whatever you want about P.K. Subban…he’s a terrific game show host.

You are saying Dumba and subban only up because they are black? Sad all lives matter view of the world.
I’m saying Dumba is there just for kneeling. I have no problem with the inclusion of Subban.
Dumba will win it. He has shown great leadership during a time of social unrest. Lundqvist should get it as a ‘parting’ gift. Shesterkin is the #1 in NY. King Hank is gonna watch a lotta hockey next year.
