The Dallas Stars have lost one of their minor league depth options as AHL defenseman Reece Scarlett has signed a contract with Dinamo Riga of the KHL, according to TSN’s Brennan Klak.
The 27-year-old Scarlett has been with the Stars organization for the past three years, playing entirely with the Texas Stars in the AHL. He has never made an appearance in a NHL game and opted to take his chances in the KHL, where he might be able to seize a bigger role there.
Known for his excellent skating and stickhandling, Scarlett has not been able force his hand into the Stars’ defensive lineup over the years. After playing just one game due to injury in 2018-19, Scarlett came back to score five goals and 16 points in 51 games for Texas. He was originally drafted in 2011 in the sixth round with the New Jersey Devils.

What a great name for an actor that would be. :D

@Gbear – Frankly, Scarlett, I don’t give a bleep about the NHL! :)

@Mac – By the looks of the TV ratings in the states, apparently not many others do either. :D
NHL/NBC, you have no one to blame but yourselves.

@Gbear – Does that mean Atlanta has to go down in flames again, or maybe just NHL HQ? :) Judging by tonight’s result, it may be Vancouver seeing fire and smelling smoke – from Travis! Dressed Ben Kuzma down a bit after Ben’s slightly inaccurate comment about going down the bench patting everybody on the back when he only went down to Markie and gave him a pep talk. You and I are paying some attention to these games, but most everybody else is out trying to get some fresh air, with and without masks…

@Mac – Have to be honest, despite the temptation to watch, I’ve boycotted these bubble game playoffs. Taking a knee, so to speak. ;)
I wonder: will they even be able to pass the Cup around at the end of this spectacle? Maybe 40 mini Cups will be passed around to all the players and personel. :D

Big loss for Texas Stars

@Gbear – Well, while somewhat saddened at your choice, I can’t blame you one bit. I think Bettman’s working on the ultimate COVID-Cup celebration: hoisting and passing around a hologram of the Stanley Cup, complete with another hologram at the top, pleading “Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi! You’re my only hope (to rescue the NHL before Bettman sewers it for good!)” :)

I’d say a big loss for Dallas, he should of played in the NHL, he’s a great skater and solid player, beyond professional. I hope he does amazing in the KHL, obviously they recognize his potential.
