The trade deadline has come and gone, and while we saw Ryan McDonagh head to a new team in his quest for the Stanley Cup, other high-priced trade bait stayed put. Who will be moved this summer? Where does Erik Karlsson play in 2018-19? Which teams made out the best on deadline day?
All of your questions will be answered this weekend in our post-deadline mailbag, so make sure to submit them using #PHRMailbag on Twitter or by leaving a comment down below!
You can read our last mailbag right here, where Brian La Rose explains why he believed McDonagh was the best non-rental option truly on the market.

What is your reaction to the Ryan McDonagh trade? On the surface who was the winner and did the Rangers get a good enough return to justify trading their top D Man and one of their best young players?

Why would NYR trade JT Miller (RFA) for Namestikov (RFA), when Miller is proven to be versatile on any line and has been a product of the rangers for many years?
jkoms57
Well obviously theu realized Namestikov wasnt far off, so took some extra prospects in the swap while barely downgrading.
Not so sure TJM is even that great of a top line center, so maybe even TB made a mistake, just MO.
Jimmykinglive
TJM doesn’t have to be a top line center in Tampa.

The Rangers might see more upside in Namestnikov than Miller. They are only a couple of months apart age wise so the age difference shouldn’t be that big of a factor.

There were issues with Miller’s future signability and coachability/conditioning in New York. Yzerman had too many centres on the team, emailing all the other GMs suggesting he was looking to move one of his centres for a top nine forward. They had Point, Johnson, and Stamkos all taking faceoffs, plus Gourde and Paquette. Peca was pretty good when he was up, so there’s another option there. It was a good move by Yzerman considering centres were at a premium at the deadline.

Better deadline move from the Pens: Trading for Brassard or resigning Hornqvist?
bapthemailman
Hornqvist. I like Brassard but I think the Pens lost a lot of toughness and a solid defenseman in Cole. The center and forward positions are really deep. But defensively, no so much
Walter T
How would you rank the three young defensemen the NYR picked up in terms of upside potential? Could any of Havec, Lindgren, or Rykov be a top pair guy? Do they even have a good chance of being NHL regulars? Is that really THREE questions? Sorry.

Which teams were the biggest winners and losers after the deadline? Which players were the biggest winners and losers?
pawtucket
Tampa and Winnipeg winners
Montreal and Buffalo losers
McD and Miller, and Kane are winners (going to good teams)
Karlsson stuck in Ottawa is the loser.

Any speculation/knowledge of specifics for the Karlsson trade proposals?
cardzcrazy
With Stastny gone and a few bad contracts where are the Blues headed ? Is it too early to give Thomas some ice time to get his feet wet ?
