Anyone have an issue with Leafs standing pat?
66TheNumberOfTheBest
Which player that got moved do you think they should have gotten?
I didn’t see anyone who changed teams who was an obviously fit for the Leafs.

Only one I was thinking was Mcdonagh

Could Toronto have matched that package?
Marner and Nylander are much better than Namestnikov but Leafs wouldn’t trade either, so you’d have to build a package around Kapanen, who isn’t worth as much as Namestnikov (more proven) so you’d have to give up even more pieces.
Plus they already have similar players in Reilly and Gardiner and really need a right shot D.
I think they were smart to wait. Not many teams will have the pieces to get Erik Karlsson. The Leafs will be one of them.

Standing pat? They acquired Plekanic….
So much for Canadians knowing hockey anymore… Pittsburgh Proud

Blue Jackets, Rangers, and Lightning all did really well. I don’t think the pieces that the Blue Jackets acquired push them past the Penguins, Lightning, or Bruins but they acquired three decent-to-good players for a pretty cheap price. Rangers are setting themselves up for a good rebuild and have a ton of picks in this upcoming draft (hopefully they draft well again). And Lightning stole the night with the McDonagh/Miller trade. Acquired a second shutdown defensemen which really lengthens out their blueline and Miller should have success in a top 6 role. Moving Namestnikov is doable since they got Miller back, and trading away those prospects/picks will be worth it if the Lightning win the Stanley Cup. Plus they were able to keep Sergachev, Foote, and Point so they still have some good young players around.
Bruins would be up there too, but it all depends on how Nash plays…but moving Belesky was a good thing. Moving that first rounder is probably a little tough to stomach, but they have some good young players in the farm/already up at the NHL level and getting rid of half of Belesky’s cap hit should help them going forward as well.
