Hey Gavin, will the smith trade mean that one of the players that Vegas just drafted is being traded to Florida? Or just strictly salary?
Gavin Lee
I just meant that to explain why they did it. Originally the trade had nothing going to Florida. I’ll remove it for clarity.

Is it just me or is Vegas looking really good?
jdgoat
I could see them being alright. If everything goes right they could probably sneak into the playoffs

They don’t look that great for next year, but with all the draft picks they’ve gotten, they should be able to build a good team within a relatively short time.

Other than the isles, I am really underwhelmed with the deals the knights worked out.
JT19
I think they got good value out of the Columbus and Anaheim deals. Vegas got a promising young defensemen in Theodore and another first rounder in the Columbus trade for not taking certain guys. Although I kind of agree in regards to the Pittsburgh deal. I feel like Pittsburgh always comes out as robbers in most of their trades (kudos to their front office though) and a 2020 second rounder doesn’t seem like much even if Fleury was the intended pick. Pittsburgh was going to have a hard time getting something for Fleury via a normal trade since Pittsburgh would’ve been more desperate to get rid of him than a team would’ve been to acquire him.
AustinMillbarge
No kidding. They should have got way more from Pens or took someone else. They weren’t going to get anything good for him anywhere else
JT19
So I guess Anaheim traded Theodore mainly so Vegas wouldn’t take Manson or Vatanen (while also taking Stoner)? And whats the motive behind the Winnipeg trade? Was there a player involved who Vegas agreed to take? And I assume Chicago backed out of the Kruger deal with the news about Hossa?
Gavin Lee
I’ll be posting a recap to explain in a bit, but yes. Manson/Vatanen were protected by the Anaheim deal, Enstrom was protected by the Winnipeg deal.
No Kruger deal with Vegas so far, but he could still go somewhere.
CubsRule08
I still think Kruger is getting traded to Vegas. Probably won’t be announced until tomorrow
JT19
I think Chicago should still make the trade anyway. The money freed from Kruger’s deal will help more than expecting him to mitigate Hossa’s loss.
